Fall in here...
As I left my house today to go and visit site, I am in full denial that fall has arrived as I put on a dress and flip flops. Okay, maybe not… the dress is more because I am 9 months pregnant and nothing fits anymore and the flip flops are because I wore running shoes for the first time on the weekend and gave myself such bad blisters on my pinky toes that now I can only wear one pair of flip flops. None the less, Jax and I walked down to the waterfront of our current project,

Small Changes That Make a Big Impact
I think when someone says, "I am working with an Interior Designer" or "We are doing renovations" all of a sudden people assume you are spending copious amounts of money on your home. When in fact, there are tonnes of ways to make small and affordable changes to your home, that still make a huge impact on the overall look of the space. Let's dive in to what I am referring too; We have actually made customized packages for our client’s specifically for their décor needs. Des

Room Updates...
Wellllll, not as far along as I wish we were, but we are working in the right direction. Last weekend, with the help of my lovely Momma, we deep cleaned the house. We really went for it! Windows done, every surface inside and out washed down, doors, spot washed walls, light fixtures, under beds, all decor, the couch, washed every textile in the house, it was a two day event to say the least, all while working around two puppies, a toddler and a husband. One of my favourite

The First Meeting
I posted the other day on our social media that I was heading to a consultation appointment. I had a friend message me and ask if it is was awkward going into stranger’s homes? I laughed and replied, I do it so frequently I don’t really think about it anymore. So… let’s talk about the first meeting. I would say at least 80 percent or more of our business is repeat customers or referrals from customers, so typically speaking when I go to a “stranger’s home” I already know th

Little Girl's Room...
It’s probably a combination of a few of my personal traits, slightly OCD, defiantly a perfectionist, organization freak and to top it all off an interior designer. As I mentioned in my previous post about Jax’s room, I had many years to plan it, so putting it together was a lot of fun, it was finally taking a vision that had been stored in my brain for so long and bringing it to life. For baby girl, I was stressing! We live in a three-bedroom home, however our bedroom isn’t

The road to Jaxon...
We will call this part one, it is going to lead into the next post about what we are doing this time around with baby girl. Our road to Jax was a journey, we went through 7 years of fertility treatments until we finally had success! So, needless to say I had a very long time to plan out his nursery. I always thought of doing the green, to go with the aesthetic of our house and it would work for a boy or a girl. I made inspiration boards, saved Pinterest photos, created draw

A mood board...
I love love love putting together a quick and easy mood board. It takes a relatively low amount of time to gather images online, take a screenshot and place them together in a word document. The impact… you get to see the overall concept design form in front of your eyes! I use a mood board with our clients in two ways. First, if we are working with a client who is unsure of the design direction or if we are drastically changing the design from what they have to an entire

Why is space planning important?
Space planning is such a crucial aspect of any design, it allows time to identify what is working in the space and offer options of elements that could be reconfigured to achieve better functionality and flow for a space. When I meet with our clients for our first in person design meeting, I like to ask the simple or not so simple question. What do you like about your space? Often client’s pause to think about the space, coming up with items they seem surprised about. Somet

What AI gets wrong about design...
In a world that has become very dependent on AI, with respect to the interior design industry - is it the end all to be all? Is there a place for AI when envisioning your project? I have had a few meetings with clients over the past few months that have generated a design using AI that they have shared with me at our meeting. I came home after the meetings, stressed with the feeling that my job, my passion, was suddenly redundant. Josh and I discussed this at length - was

I'm back!
It has been a couple of years since I have done a blog post, life got busy and we focussed more on posting on our Instagram and Facebook stories. That being said, I love writing, so this is a great place to talk all things design, construction and our business. Personal update, since our last post, we have had our son Jaxon, he just turned 2 last month, he loves all things with a motor and helping Dad on the tools every chance he gets. We are also expecting a baby girl this
