Finally a trend I can get behind...

The shift in design my inner sole was waiting for, you can pretty much picture me doing the happy dance when I read about the projected design trend for 2027!

If you have followed along throughout the blog or social media, you will note that I am not one to follow design trends, to me the most important thing about design is how the space makes you feel. I think people can put too much pressure on themselves trying to keep up with what is “in” and what is in might not align with their personal feeling of their space, keyword being their space.

So… all this to say, I don’t typically talk about, get excited about or overly care about design trends, but of course I see them within social media, what client’s ask for, products available, etc. However, organic, earthy, grounding design is right up my ally and I couldn’t be more excited to implement more of this trending style into our 2027 projects.

As with any trend, I will defiantly take from it what works in our space at home and what works in client’s spaces, just because a trend is in and has specific components doesn’t necessarily mean they will work in every space. The palette being projected is very neutral, warm whites, warm neutrals, but it is also infused with chocolate browns and deep greens. My rule of thumb as a designer is to always use neutrals for the main aspects in your home and decorate with colours you might want to change in the future. Although this colour palette describes my home, it might not be for everyone. My suggestion would be to work with neutrals (as I always say) for items such as tile, kitchen cupboards, vanities, light fixtures and then decorate with chocolate brown or deep greens such as towels, plants, pillows, etc. Natural wood is something that we are going to start to see more of, which I am over the moon about, we currently have raw natural wood tables throughout our home and many décor accents are wood, it provides a lived in, cozy texture to the space which I think is important in every home. Vintage finds again something that we will be seeing more of, which I think is crucial in every good design, layering new pieces with “old” pieces, whether that be actual antiques, sentimental pieces perhaps a grandmothers chair or just pieces that you have had for a really long time and maybe transitioned with you from each of your homes.

I think we are stepping into a very interesting, lived in era in the design world and all I can say is I am ready for it!
