The road to Jaxon...

We will call this part one, it is going to lead into the next post about what we are doing this time around with baby girl.

Our road to Jax was a journey, we went through 7 years of fertility treatments until we finally had success! So, needless to say I had a very long time to plan out his nursery. I always thought of doing the green, to go with the aesthetic of our house and it would work for a boy or a girl. I made inspiration boards, saved Pinterest photos, created drawings and digital renderings. I planned and planned and planned. When we finally got pregnant and the nursery started to take shape, it was truly a dream come true. To me, it was perfection!

Similar to other places in our home, I handpicked every item to perfectly match the space. I searched for weeks for the perfect gold crib, which ironically, I ended up finding on marketplace and my lovely Mom picked it up for me. Funny story, it was a late night deal behind a shop that was closing, a few other vehicles there, my Mom called me and asked where I had sent her.

I knew I wanted a comfortable chair, as I would be spending lots of late nights in it, so again after a long search, we settled on a beautiful cream rocking chair in teddy bear fabric from Wayfair. I found the ottoman from Bouclair’s that was the perfect contrast. Josh custom built the table to go next to the chair which came in handy to place a lamp, my phone, drink and late night snacks. He stained it to match the open custom shelves and the customized dresser. The dresser is a fun one, it is a diy project starting with an IKEA dresser, adding pieces and hardware to make it feel like an antique piece, we have the same one in our bedroom as well. We added practical elements to the space including large white baskets for storage, multiple lighting options and a mini fridge, perfect for holding breast milk and drinks for me. The finishing touches was the décor. We put an olive tree in the corner of the room with pretty twinkle lights, a gold airplane that Josh picked out sat on the dresser, beautiful gold picture frames on the wall that we filled with maternity photos and later added newborn pics, green pillows, cozy blankets and the perfect natural mobile for the crib.

All and all, it was a curated space that was unique, functional, beautiful and symbolized the fact that we were finally able to welcome our baby boy to the family!
